About Abit Socket A motherboards
ABIT is a motherboard manufacturer that has built up great reputation with pc enthusiasts and overclockers. They have been known to innovate in the field of tweaking BIOS settings and overclocking in general. They were one of the first to introduce a jumperless cpu configuring method done through the BIOS instead of using jumper switches which was the old method of changing cpu frequencies/speed. The name of this feature was called "Softmenu". Softmenu was later developed into the μGuru chip. This chip was another innovation by Abit. It gave the user the ability to modify clock settings on the fy in real time, while the computer is booted into the operating system. This can shave off alot of time trying to find a CPUs max overclock. As normally this would require alot of restarting and entering the BIOS, going back into the OS and back and fourth. Abit motherboards are becoming rare items, especially their older motherboards. If you want a piece of overclocking history, buying an older Abit motherboard will surely give that to you.
